Screwed up crank bolt thread in a bottom bracket

If a part works I can't just throw it away. One of my spare bottom brackets is a KSS BSA 68mm cartridge type which is in relatively good condition. Relatively because I suspect it to be a cheap one in the first place with its plastic cups. Anyway, the last time I installed it into an old Bianchi frame (BSA & italian.. that's strange) I couldn't screw in one of the crank bolts. After some inspection it seemed the the thread in it's spindle was F.U.B.A.R.

But darn.. the whole bottom bracket is in great shape... So you can guess: it's back in the spare parts box waiting for a day I am able to tap a new thread if by any means possible.

Mountainbike cable routing or "A spaghetti western"

Tonight I did some work on my '96 Giant Boulder Alu lite. A low budget project but a lot of fun. Last week I struggled a lot with the external cables in lack of a proper cable cutter. I ended with the Dremel tool and that worked out pretty well. Anyway, I'm not content with the routing from the top tube to the shifters. See for yourself:

I ended up looping the rear derailleur cable, which is the middle one on the top tube, via the left side of the headset. This gave a better flow than straight along the right side of the headset and with a sharp turn right into the 9 speed Deore M510 shifter.
